Low Testosterone (Low-T) is a men’s health condition. Low-T is most commonly recognized by the symptoms that it causes from breast growth to loss of sex drive. For men’s bodies to function properly, they need certain amounts of testosterone. If their testosterone level is low, it can mean that they have a more serious health condition causing the decreased hormone, or it can simply be the result of normal aging. It’s important to seek medical counsel to make sure you’re not dealing with a more serious, underlying health issue.
Testosterone is a naturally produced hormone that men need to experience healthy living. If a man doesn’t have the right amount of testosterone, he can end up having more serious health conditions along with just a general decrease in wellbeing. With Low-T, he may have trouble having sex, building muscle, maintaining energy, etc. Thankfully, there are treatments available that can help men get back their health. A medical professional can implement a standard blood test, discuss the man’s symptoms, and then present treatment options.
It’s important to seek treatment for low testosterone because of the many negative side effects that can result from it and because the cause could be a more serious health condition. Here are some Low-T symptoms:
Let our team of licensed, medical professionals help you find treatment options. Our team specializes in men’s sexual health. We’ve helped thousands of men experience freedom from Low-T and get back to living a healthier lifestyle.
Aging is one of the primary causes of Low-T. As a man gets older, his body will typically begin producing less and less testosterone. Even though levels may continue to drop with age, it doesn’t automatically mean that a man will have a Low-T problem. But, in most cases, lower testosterone levels do result in various Low-T symptoms. Thankfully, there are multiple treatments available that can help get your testosterone levels back to normal allowing for greater energy, sex drive, muscle growth, and wellbeing.
By implementing a basic blood test, a medical professional can determine testosterone level. Looking at the level number and assessing the symptoms present, a men’s sexual health specialist can help identify a Low-T diagnosis and treatment options.
The primary treatment for Low-T is hormone replacement. This therapy can help get a man’s testosterone level back to “normal.” At the Tennessee Men’s Clinic, our team is made up of experienced, men’s health specialists who help men suffering with Low-T to take back their health.
To best care for our Low-T patients, we continually administer blood tests for the men participating in Low-T treatments. We monitor these men closely to help us identify and address potential side effects early.
Potential side effects of Testosterone replacement include: Worsening of prostate issues (BPH and prostate cancer) including increase risk of developing prostate cancer; changes in red blood cell level, cholesterol or lipid levels, hormone levels, and PSA level. It can also cause permanent hair growth on face, chest, buttocks, or other areas of the body; head hair loss; mood or psychological changes such as increased anger or aggressive behavior; breast growth similar in appearance to that found in women; testicular shrinkage or atrophy; decreased sperm count leading to infertility; and, acne. It may also worsen sleep apnea and cause tissue edema. It may cause the development or increase the risk of heart attack, strokes, blood clots, high blood pressure, other cardiovascular problems, and death in people with or without cardiovascular or heart disease.
